Go Tapas and Drink with Friends - our short Relik experience

Hey there! Hope things are doing great with you! People are asking when we are going to post food reviews from other countries. Well, it might be next year since this year is super busy for wedding preparations.

But, let's not stop food reviews for Philippine restaurants.

Let's now take a look into the experience we had with Relik Tapas Bar and Lounge in the Fort, Philippines. It was a short one because one of our friends have to leave early.

First of all, since Relik is a known place for the yuppies, we advise that you have reservations in advance so that you can sit, relax, and enjoy their food and music.

One of their best sellers that we tried is their Beef Salpicao. Our only concern is that the serving size is small but the taste is garlic-intense and the beef is juicy. It is served in what Filipinos call palayok or clay pot.

Next we tried their Chorizig, which is made of chorizo (pork sausage) bits cooked in a sizzling plate with green chili bits and spritz of lemon. The serving size is again small, it is good for 1 person only if you eat it on a regular habit but if you eat it with drinks and friends then it's a good pica-pica.

Since eating here without drinks won't make your experience complete. We ordered two (2) drinks, one with alcohol (Kamikaze) and one without alcohol (Watermelon Shake). We initially wanted a Watermelon Mojito but the waiter said that all types of Mojitos are not available. That statement surprised us because it is a Friday and their alcoholic drink choices is not complete.

All in all, the experience is not that exciting, but it is a good place to hang out and listen to good music.

And they are located at: 2nd Floor, Commercenter Building, 31st Avenue corner 4th Street, BGC, Taguig

Comfort Food? Go Japanese Cuisine

Have you ever felt so down that you just want to eat something delicious but at the same time you are a bit tight on the budget? Well, I have something for you! It's the Ganjou restaurant.

This Japanese restaurant is located in the heart of Metro Manila but it cannot easily be found because it is hidden inside a condominium building, named Torre Lorenzo2. It's location is in Taft Avenue, right in front of De La Salle University and beside the only Metrobank in the area.

Since it's dinner time and I just want to eat inside my room, I had my food to go. The menu is so cheap that it is student friendly (all in Philippine Peso):

I craved for something healthy, salty and soft, so ordered Katsudon and Salmon Skin Crunch.

The Katsudon is yummy and the serving size is big with the white rice filling the bowl almost up to the brim. The seaweed and egg is also plenty that it will surely fill your hungry tummy
Katsudon - Php 120.00

I also wanted something crispy but it should be healthy so I cannot have chips, thus ordering the Salmon Skin Crunch is the best option for me. It comes with a sweet-tasting vinegar with green onion sprinkled on it. Again, the serving size is plenty that two people can enjoy the food:

All in all, I enjoyed the food! And I will not forget to note that the servers and cooks washed their hands with alcohol first before preparing my food. That is very sanitary for Philippine restaurants.

So, if you are around the downtown of Metro Manila, just come by and visit this place:
Ganjou by Omakase at Torre Lorenzo2 .

A Healthy Start in the Philippines

Hey food and travel addicts out there! This blog will help you in your search for good food while you are traveling!

Launching this blog by giving you an insight of one of the organic restos in Metro Manila, the IMO's organic restaurant by Sarah Geronimo. Sarah Geronimo is a famous singer and artist in the Philippines.

Her restaurant is located in Mindanao Avenue near St. Charbel Subdivision. IMO's boasts organic food because their ingredients are from their farm in Baguio.

So what's the verdict?

We started off our experience with their FREE lemongrass tea and bread sticks.

From their long menu of a mix of Filipino and Japanese cuisines, we asked for the best seller. They advised that we try their Bulalo (Filipino Beef Marrow Stew).  Since we know this is going to be a "sinful" meal, we also asked for their salads.  They recommended  Mixed Green Salad.

Mixed Green Salad - Php 110 for Single and Php 175 for Double. We ordered the Single serving and we cannot believe our eyes when it was served!!! It was soooo big that it can be shared by 2-3 pax.

Since we want to be somehow healthy, we ordered red rice to partner our Bulalo. Red rice is known to help lower bad cholesterol.

Red rice - Php 45.00 for single serving

And here comes the main dish!!! It's Bulalo time!!! Their Bulalo is served in a large clay pot oozing with fresh veggies and organic meat.

Bulalo - Php 350 for 2 - 3 pax

But what will really entice you in trying their Bulalo is how big the serving is! It has three bones with two of them having the bone marrow in it!!!! YUM! YUM! and sinful. The bone marrow is  yellowish, soft, and filled with flavor.

NOTE: Ask your Doctor first if bone marrow is allowed for you.

The benefit of eating here is that their beef came straight from the farm so you are assured of the freshness of the meat.

And here they are:

With this meal, we are soooooo filled to the brim! Thus, we ordered for another three rounds of lemongrass tea and freshly squeezed Watermelon juice.

Watermelon Juice - Php 95.00

We are looking forward to going back to Geronimo's and try their Organic Pancit Malabon.

Here's the interior of their restaurant when there is no people around. Love the nature ambiance with birds humming :)
